How do I become a beekeeper?

The best place to start in the journey to becoming a beekeeper is by taking a class.  The CCBA offers an eight-week class on odd numbered years and a one-day class on even numbered years, so there is some type of class given each year. CCBA also offers an online class from time to time. Information about registering for the classes will be available on our home page when registration is open.

There are also many books and magazines on beekeeping available that are valuable resources.  Finally, nothing beats hands-on experience, and the CCBA offers field days at the Central Carolina Community College bee hives.  Field days occur spring through fall and the dates are available here and on our calendar of events.
