CCBA Privacy and Communication Policy

The Chatham County Beekeepers Association (CCBA) respects the privacy of all its members. The CCBA implements a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information.

The CCBA collects information from and maintains information about you when you become a member of the CCBA. This information includes your name, postal address, phone numbers, email addresses and other personal information. This information is used solely by the CCBA and is not shared, traded, or sold to third parties. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating the website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep your personal information confidential. The CCBA may also release your information when it believes release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce CCBA policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.

As a CCBA member, by default, you may receive any of the following three types of electronic (or email) communication from the CCBA: 1) information and updates pertaining directly to the CCBA (meetings, news, surveys, and other information), 2) information regarding educational opportunities pertinent to beekeeping that are hosted by organizations other than the CCBA, and/or 3) the electronic version of the CCBA newsletter. You may opt not to receive each of these types of communication (1, 2, and/or 3) individually. By default, you will not receive 4) solicitations from companies promoting their beekeeping products that are available for purchase. The CCBA will not share your personal information with outside educational organizations (2) or solicitors (4); all such communication will come directly from the CCBA.

For any of the above types of electronic communications (1 – 4), your email address may be used by an CCBA Officer (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and/or membership or Education Coordinator) and/or a CCBA Webmaster. A two-thirds approval from the President and Vice President will be obtained by the sending officer prior to mailing electronic communications of types 1) or 2) to you. Type 3) or the newsletter does not require approval.

Note: If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving emails regarding any of these types of communications, you may do so by contacting the Membership Coordinator  by email at membership@chatham-beekeepers.org. The CCBA will also include unsubscribe instructions on all emails it sends to you.

The CCBA website may contain links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another website, for which the CCBA is not responsible.

CCBA occasionally provides information from beekeeping-related vendors. CCBA doesn’t promote or endorse any vendors that offer or provide materials or services, in-kind or financial, to CCBA or the association’s members. Sharing beekeeping supply or service opportunities is consistent with the educational and beekeeping community outreach purposes of CCBA. CCBA doesn’t validate vendor licensing or certifications, and it remains the responsibility of CCBA members to do their due diligence before doing business with a vendor. CCBA assumes no responsibility in providing the information. Providing the information is intended as public awareness to our beekeeping community. CCBA assumes no liability for transactions members make with a vendor, nor does CCBA make any representations regarding the quality of a vendor’s materials or services.

By becoming a member of the CCBA, you signify your agreement to our privacy and communication policy as stated above.

Note that this policy may be revised periodically; its current form is available on the CCBA website. Please re-read this policy prior to submitting any personal information if you have concerns about how your information is being collected and used.
